Robertson for Bold Branding and Eye-Catching Web Design

I was working on a redesign for a boutique online store selling handcrafted jewelry when I first came across Robertson. As a display font, it immediately stood out with its unique character and strong visual presence. I knew it had the potential to elevate the brand's digital identity, but I needed to test it in real scenarios.

Robertson for Hero Sections and Headlines on Product Landing Pages

Robertson’s bold and stylized letterforms made it a perfect fit for the hero section of the product landing page. I used it for the main headline, placing it over a full-width image of a necklace against a dark background. The contrast between the light text and the dark image made the message pop, and the font’s distinctive curves added a touch of elegance that matched the brand’s aesthetic.

What caught me by surprise was how well Robertson performed on mobile screens. Despite its ornate style, it remained legible even at smaller sizes, which is crucial for responsive design. I adjusted the leading slightly and ensured there was enough padding around the text to avoid crowding.

Robertson in Call-to-Action Areas and Digital Campaigns

Next, I tested Robertson in the call-to-action (CTA) buttons. I wasn’t sure if a display font would work here, but I wanted to see if it could add a sense of urgency or excitement. After some experimentation, I found that using Robertson in short, impactful phrases like “Shop Now” or “Discover More” gave the CTA a more dynamic feel without compromising clarity.

I paired Robertson with a clean sans serif font for body copy to maintain readability. This font pairing helped balance the design and kept the user experience smooth. It also reinforced the brand’s personality—creative, confident, and visually driven.

Robertson for Branding and Logo Design in Creative Portfolios

One of the most interesting applications of Robertson was in the logo design for a creative portfolio site. The designer wanted something that felt both modern and timeless, and Robertson’s blend of geometric and organic shapes delivered exactly that. It worked beautifully as the primary text in the logo and as a decorative accent in the navigation menu.

For the portfolio itself, I used Robertson sparingly—mainly for section headings and project titles. This approach helped maintain a consistent visual hierarchy while allowing the content to remain easy to scan. It also gave the site a more professional and cohesive look, which is essential for building trust with potential clients.

Robertson in Blog Headers and Editorial Content

I experimented with using Robertson in blog headers and found that it added a nice touch of personality to the editorial content. On a blog about interior design, for example, the font’s stylish yet approachable feel complemented the content perfectly. I used it for post titles and subheadings, ensuring that each section was clearly defined and visually engaging.

To keep the design from feeling too cluttered, I limited Robertson to just the headings and let a simpler font handle the body text. This strategy allowed the font to make an impact without overwhelming the reader.

Robertson for Promotional Landing Pages and Course Sales

When designing a promotional landing page for a course on digital marketing, I wanted to create a sense of energy and innovation. Robertson fit the bill perfectly. I used it for the headline and a few key subheadings, and the result was a layout that felt both professional and exciting.

The font’s unique character helped the page stand out from other course sales pages, which often use standard sans serif fonts. It also aligned well with the brand’s tone—forward-thinking and creative. I made sure to test the font on different screen sizes and backgrounds to ensure it remained readable and visually appealing across all devices.

Readability Tips for Using Robertson in Web Projects

While Robertson is undeniably eye-catching, it’s important to consider its readability in different contexts. For longer blocks of text, it’s best to use it sparingly or pair it with a more legible font. I recommend testing it on various backgrounds and ensuring there is sufficient contrast between the text and the surrounding elements.

Another tip is to avoid using Robertson on small buttons or links where space is limited. Its detailed strokes can sometimes be lost at smaller sizes, making it harder to read. When using it on dark backgrounds, I suggest adjusting the color and opacity to ensure it remains visible and accessible.

Font Pairing and Commercial Licensing for Web Projects

Before finalizing the design, I checked the font’s available styles, weights, and webfont options. Robertson offered a range of variations that allowed me to fine-tune the design for different sections of the website. I also made sure to review the commercial licensing terms to confirm it was suitable for use on client projects and online stores.

Pairing Robertson with a complementary font was key to maintaining a balanced design. I found that pairing it with a modern sans serif font for body copy created a great contrast and improved the overall user experience. This combination also helped reinforce the brand’s identity and made the site feel more polished and professional.
